These are the notes on history of The Alliance, gathered from Fordil and Ralia as longest serving kinship members with support of the information from the old website still running here. Of course we will be happy to enhance this thread, so if you have any additional information from our kinship's past, feel free to contact us either in-game, using the website or Facebook.
Our kinship was founded in 2010 by Faral, Vendla, Bookwerm, Sweetclover and Ratfish under the name 'The Horselords of the Riddermark'. As the name suggests it was a kinship with role-playish Rohirrim theme (please, don't get confused by 'Riders of Rohan' expansion ... this one was released in October 2012). For those of you who have never been part of an RP kinship: 'Kin chat used to be in character so everything that was not [in brackets] used to be roleplayed' (according to Fordil). When the ranks were growing, the Rohirrim RP motive of the kinship became a bit limiting - at least in the eyes of some people - so on 22nd of October 2011 Faral paid Turbine to change the kinship's name and we became 'The Alliance'. Even after the rename the kinship continued in RP theme - there's still a recruitment post on the official forums, which describes The Alliance as light-medium RP kinship.
From 2011 till 2013 the kin went really well, but the core group slowly began to leave the game which ultimately led to a decrease in number of members. During the year 2014, when Faral's activity in-game started to drop down, the number of active members lowered considerably. After Faral left LotRO in March 2015 the kin leadership was transferred to Slugstomper. These were the times before the servers consolidation event and LotRO population was dwindling with many great kins from the history disappearing at that time.
In July 2015 Slugstomper left LotRO and The Alliance lead returned to Faral, who named a few days later, on 13th of July 2015, Ralia as the new leader of The Alliance. There is one thing bound to the leadership transfer between Faral and Ralia: due to the role Faral played in the first years of the kinship, he will stay on the roster as successor and honorary leader. Sometimes people comment on the fact we have an officer, who has not been online for ages ... so this is the reason, now you know ;-)
Here begins the story of the kin as you know it today: The Alliance started rebuilding it's ranks, trying to provide safe haven for all mature players, who are looking for laid-back company on their ventures through Middle-Earth. After the server consolidation at the dawn of 2016 we got a lot of wonderful people coming from closed servers. And from time to time some others join us - either new players, experienced players looking for a new kin or returning players coming back after a hiatus.
And so we want to stay -- until the day when the gates of Middle-Earth close forever...
